Just the mention of nail polish remover can almost put the awful scent of acetone in the air.

We don’t know how it happened, but somehow, someway, using harsh chemicals became a necessary evil of nail care.  Not only do you have to deal with those fumes, but you may get the chemical itself on your skin.  Acetone, a main ingredient in nail polish remover, can cause redness and irritation on contact. Who wants that? Probably not you.

There’s got to be another way right?  A natural way perhaps? Of course, that’s what we’re here for.  We have a quick and easy natural nail polish remover recipe that you can mix together in less than 3 minutes.

Read through the easy recipe below, and get ready to kiss those harsh fumes goodbye.

Why a glass mixing bowl?  Essential oils can break down plastics.  Using a glass bowl to contain the ingredients and a wooden or metal spoon to mix them, is an easy way to work around this issue.

Let’s Mix It

  • In a small glass mixing bowl, add the vinegar.
  • Next, add the lemon and orange essential oil.
  • Gently stir the solution for about 15-20 seconds.

How to Remove The Polish

For the best results, dip your finger tips in very warm water (the highest temperature you can tolerate WITHOUT burning yourself) and let them soak for 10 minutes.

After that, dry your fingers and dip them into the natural nail polish remover for 20 seconds.

Finally, use a cotton ball to wipe off the nail polish.  You can also wrap the cotton ball around your finger tip and use a twisting motion to take off the polish – this method may get you better results.

No time for DIY?

Removing nail polish naturally is a great option but it may take a little extra time to completely remove the polish.

In case you’re short on time but still want to take the natural route, we’ve included a ready made option for you as well.  It works a little faster than the DIY recipe and the price is comparable.
